Description

MC-Flow Seal is a two-component water-resistant coating based on cement and acrylic polymer. It is applied to concrete to reduce water penetration and form a coherent protective layer bonded to the substrate.

Where to use

Waterproofing foundations, tunnels and machinery pits. Waterproofing reservoirs, swimming pools and sewage works. Coating concrete structures and walls. Protecting concrete surfaces in marine environments.

Advantages

Easy application. Suitable for interior or exterior use against positive or negative water pressure. Provides a uniform colour and texture. Forms a durable cementitious coating integrated with the substrate. Excellent adhesion to concrete. Slight flexibility, as stated by the source. Good resistance to abrasion and weathering. The source states suitability for potable-water and sewage projects.

Surface preparation

Remove weak material and foreign matter by wire brushing, scraping or suitable mechanical preparation. Remove efflorescence, salts, oils and contaminants. Repair cracks and holes and stop active water leakage with a suitable repair compound such as MC-Flow Plug, as referenced by the source. Dampen the substrate before application; it should be damp with no free water at the time of coating.

Mixing

Add one 25 kg bag of powder to 8 kg of polymer solution in a clean container. Mix mechanically until a homogeneous slurry/mortar is obtained.

Application

Brush application: use a stiff-fibre brush, work the material into the pores and finish each coat in one direction while maintaining a wet edge. Apply the second coat after approximately 24 hours. Trowel application: the second coat may be mixed to a mortar consistency by reducing the polymer proportion as described by the source. Complete local repairs before final finishing. Do not apply when the temperature may fall below 7°C or on frozen substrates.

Single-component version & packaging

The source also describes a one-component version supplied as 25 kg powder ready to mix with 7.5 litres of water. Two-component system: 25 kg powder + 8 kg liquid polymer. Shelf life: 12 months in unopened packaging.
