Description

MC-Curo 300 is a clear, slightly viscous liquid based on sodium silicate solution. It dries to a colourless, stain-free surface. The source references ASTM C309-94 Type 1, Class A.

How it works

Unlike conventional surface film-forming membranes, the source states that MC-Curo 300 reacts chemically with hydroxides produced during cement hydration to form a dense crystalline structure that reduces the evaporation rate of moisture from the concrete surface.

Where to use

• Airfields and highways. • Pavements, walls and dams. • Bridges, foundation slabs and other large horizontal or inclined concrete surfaces.

Advantages

• Easy and economical to apply. • Reduces the incidence of shrinkage cracks. • Promotes better strength-gain characteristics. • Useful as a dust-proofer and surface hardener, particularly on flooring areas. • No film breakdown period is involved. • The source states that it does not interfere with subsequent concrete surface treatments.

Surface preparation

Apply as evenly as possible to freshly poured concrete. If the concrete has lost some of its greenness, dampen the surface first with water before applying MC-Curo 300.

Application

Apply by spray. For improved surface resistance to abrasion, the source recommends a second coat after 24 hours.

Cleaning

Clean spraying equipment or rollers before the material dries.

Safety

• Prevent material from entering the eyes. • Avoid skin contact and wash exposed skin with water.
